Rural Women's network set up to address inequality that exists in relation to women in Cumbria accessing mainstream business support agencies and setting up own businesses. (assisted in creation of 132 new businesses – 190 new jobs)
Justification/aim[]
Increase profile of rural women entrepreneurs and increase mainstream understanding of their importance as key drivers of diversification of rural economy. Challenge perception that female led business is marginal to rural economy. Social audit results from Train 2000 and WEETU used to illustrate value of women’s enterprise support programmes to senior ministers.
